How much does an electrical panel upgrade cost in Houston?
A 100-to-200-amp service upgrade typically costs $2,000–$4,000. Panel replacements at the same amperage are $1,500–$2,800. Federal Pacific or Zinsco panel replacements run $2,000–$3,500. All prices include permits, labor, and inspection.
How much does EV charger installation cost?
Standard Level 2 EV charger installation costs $800–$1,500 when your panel has capacity. Installations requiring a panel upgrade run $2,500–$4,500 total. The charger unit itself costs $400–$700 and is purchased separately.
How much does a whole-home generator cost in Houston?
Installed pricing ranges from $5,500–$8,000 for a 14–16kW unit (essential circuits) to $12,000–$16,000 for a 24–26kW unit (whole-home). Pricing includes the generator, transfer switch, concrete pad, gas connection, and permits.
Do I need a permit for electrical work in Houston?
Yes. Panel upgrades, new circuits, rewiring, EV charger installations, and generator installations all require electrical permits in Houston and surrounding municipalities. We handle all permitting and inspection scheduling on your behalf.
How do I know if my electrical panel needs replacing?
Common signs include frequent breaker trips, a panel older than 25 years, burning smells, scorch marks, a Federal Pacific or Zinsco brand panel, or insufficient capacity for new loads like EV chargers or home additions.
Can you install an EV charger if my panel is full?
Yes. If your panel lacks capacity or available breaker slots, we can upgrade your panel and install the EV charger circuit in the same visit, which saves time and cost compared to doing them separately.
